That would be helpful. Would be better than looking for a random forum

Well I guess if you are at home and on Steam there is always Festers Place steam group chat. So you don't necessarily have to be "friends".
It's a good idea although a shoutbox would be oh so public and you'd have to be very very careful as to what you say

I'm pretty sure there are public websites that offer a php chat system that is free and easy to setup. I've used one in the past.. maybe that would be better?? It would certainly be a little more private!

Is there a way it can be seperated from the forum, maybe a page on the main site, as I dont want the Network Nazi's to ban forum access as they may class it as "BANNED:Chat/Social Sites"

Hahahaha, unlucky.
I wrote my own php shoutbox a while ago for another forum, but it wasn't live updating (this was before getXmlHttpObject and AJAX was commonly used) - more of a system to leave a little one line message to everybody at the top of the page. That was easy to make and you always found a different message when you logged on.
A chat system thing could be cool, if it was in such a position as we noticed if it sent a message (made a sound or something? a little box pop up at the bottom of the screen?)

There really is not much call for a chatbox in the forums. Not only is there the Steam group chat thingy, but something like that defeats the purpose of a forum - a place where your stupidity and/or ingenuity is stored for new and old members alike to LOL at.
Great job, BBloke!
