Hey guys, iam considering buying myself some better speakers, means i have loud ones but not audiophile ones.
So in the moment I am thinking of buying myself some nice speakers + amplifier...
The current products i choose are:
http://www.audioengineusa.com/ap4_home.php
http://www.audioengineusa.com/tech_stuff_ap4.php
and as an amplifier (since the speakers are passive ones) this one:
http://www.miniwatt.com.hk/products_s1.html
i just have some questions here:
how much power actually is "Power Output: 2.5W+2.5W @ 8 ohms" on the amplifier really, so are their quite or can i turn them loud too?
And since the speakers are passive is their loudness limited to the power of the amplifier?
Thank you for you help

http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-THX-Cert ... B0002WPSBC" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; or just pick these up off ebay.. way less than this price..
I have a set of these make's the 900watt mono amp and sub in the car sound like a pair of headphones
but if your going down the road of a amp and 2 speakers it all depends on what kinda sound you want.. which is more important to you? low high or mids?
i would go with a 4ohm setup but all i know is bass

ask Jeffer he is a fan of them speakers your looking at.. think he is anyway!

fester thats the exact set i have and they work beautifuly, at half volume i can shake the house enough to knock pictures off the wall nuff said lol, that set can also be hooked up to any next gen consol out there (360, ps3 wii) one thing to be aware of is that if you use cordless phones sometimes the frequencies can screw with ur speakers and the volume will go way up which can scare the shit out of a person

i dont really need such a set, i have a full 5.1 set
http://www.ciao.de/Cambridge_SoundWorks ... l__1246826
but I really want not loudness but clearness means audiophile stuff, thats why its a vacuum tube amp and nothing else

Iam little audiophile here.
I want to hook it up to my turntable as well.

I got an Onkyo TX SSR606 reciever and a set of Q Acoustics 1010i 5.1, have to say, the rock, great for gaming, music and films. Good width to soundstage, depth from the sub, although when you push to amp up to its limits it gets a little.... shrill, i suppose but apparently that onkyo for you. Handles all you HD audio codex, DTS MA, DD HD etc, im pretty sure they have a newer version out now as well. My 2 cents!

I've read a lot on the onkyo over some months when I was looking for an amp and they always receive a solid review. A Great machine at a great price. I have Denon AVR3802 amp. A little on the older side and pre HD so no HDMI's and no HDTV passthrough on the video but it rocks as an amp. It doesn't do the new uncompressed audio either but I don't have a ATI 5800 card so no loss there. Those Q Acoustics are pretty sweet too.. I stuck with some smaller speakers Tannoy SFX 5.1. Small but weighty and can handle the amp output of 100watts.

had that issue with the 4850, couldn't get it to bit stream the hd codex's to the receiver even though, at the time it was advertised. TBH i don't think i can hear the difference, or if i do its minimal. Think you really need to be spending huge money on both speakers and interconnects.

http://www.naim-audio.com/products/cd5xs.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
And a Squeezebox for streaming MP3s

Through an pair of Castle Speakers. Amazing sound, the only issue is that the combind cost was over £3000! :O
