FESTERS PLACE

Ok as you guys might have seen a new guy called Davlie has played on our server "as i invited him"
i buyed the game to him as a present "cristmash " but when he tries to run it this is all that comes up in every Selections he can do.

as you can see on the Images that i uploaded as attachment there is no text or anything. he can`t change game volum, mouse speed, or video options.

only options for him to play is to join thru me and hes tired of that...

i uploaded this photos another place but they had no clue or havent seen it before so this web site is like the only place i know that can help him.

so if some of you guys is imba pro people and know how to fix this i would realy like an solution

EDIT: Didnt have any photo of him using the "Start Playing Tool" but that is also plank no text nothing

EDIT2: He uses Windows 7

EDIT3: This also applies to other Steam games like HL2 and Garrysmod.

Reinstall TF2?
There might be some console commands or launch options that would solve your problem aswell

it aslo affects Garrysmod and other Games that uses the Half life 2 engine

MAC or PC?

Is it running in full screen or window mode? (use -sw -noborder in launch parameters to enable window with no border)

Run the game in a previous version of Direct X. Do this by opening Steam and right-click on TF2. Go to Properties and Set Launch Options. Enter -dxlevel 81 (for DX 8.1) and click ok
or
Put -safe and/or -safemode as Launch Options
