Nothing illegal about the proxy server itself. You streaming content that you are legally not entitled to view is naughty tho.

Having said that, may I recommend you put on the nerd specs bosco (any any others who are denied access) and have a look at this tutorial -

http://www.showmethetelly.com/forum/vie ... &sk=t&sd=a" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

It's a walk though of setting up firefox to automagically use a proxy(you still need one) just for snippets of the bbc website, enough to get you ok'd to view the content. The actual video or audio stream gets sent directly to your pc, bypassing the proxy, so it's going to be faster and more consistent and you dont need to enable/disable proxies. It does it itself.

Why go to the hassle? Well apart from the speed benefits, there are a lot more proxies that will allow you basic access but will not stream video than there are streaming-friendly proxies.

Also, because you are not streaming thru the proxy and are only making occasional teeny webpage requests, the argument for getting one of your nerdy uk based mates (HINT HINT) to set up a private proxy is pretty sound :D

Is the festersplace server in ireland or the UK? If its over here can you not set one up on there or will the hosting company not like that much? it could be passworded as well then.

ya, it's in the uk. We could run a proxy server without falling foul of the t's&c's and make it private, but I dont want to, I just want to keep our noses clean with our happy hosts. Wouldnt do for auntie to come knocking at the door, even if the chances are slim to none.
