Re: FUNNY?
Now I like Halo 3. i spent a few hours round at my mates house on his xbox playing it. We went onto games where you can build - i.e. place guns, blocks, barrels and stuff into maps to make them custom. many fine hours were spent getting stoned and then completely ruining it for whoever was on - moving round shit they had placed, putting exploding barrels into their portals etc etc etc. We got kicked. A lot. But in an evil mood, winding up kids is very entertaining.

Re: FUNNY?
Del that wont was epic.
LMAO
I'm obviously in the minority in that I have never play any Halo game or incarnation of it that I know of. I've only watch Red vs Blue which although a well produce machinima does no justice for the game whatsoever.
Like I said statistics are always questionable as others have pointed out are we talking out right off the shelf sales or bundle with console inclusion. Without clarity stats become meaningless (snipers are still guy though).
I'm sure I've read recently that console FPS games are no where near a patch on PC FPS games. I'm talking like for like titles. I think it was L4D forum where a player mention the console version was "easier" than the PC. Gamepads are fine for Tombraider and resident evil (where aiming is automatic).
Oh well... interest topic all the same.

Hey Bbloke,
I totally agree with you about FPS and the gamepads.......they're Shite (with a capital S you will notice).
I have a PS3, which is a wonderful machine, but I love FPS games and while they release them on the PS3, playing them with a pad is like playing with a mouse wearing boxing gloves. You have very little accuracy, and as a result, your reaction times are at least halved, if not more.
Personally, I think its disgraceful that Sony don't ask for mouse support in all FPS games for the system, like what's the big deal? It would hardly be difficult to map a second controller option, and it might bring a lot more people to the PS3 (mainly because its a beast of a machine, and a lot cheaper than buying a high end PC, which might need to be upgraded in 2 years time).
Now while I understand that there is a notion that adding mouse support might give an unfair advantage to those online using them over those using controllers, but fuck that, do you want hardcore gamers to play them online or do you want them to completely ignore them, which is what the current situation is. And what really annoys me, is that they won't even put mouse support on single player games with no online elements!
BAH!

Re: FUNNY?
I got the orange box before Christmas last year, started off playing portal then HL2, my mate got it at the same time for his PS3. After playing the same games on the PS3, I have to conclude that the PC is a far superior system for playing games, you are more involved and it is easier to control. Don't think I'll ever consider getting a console as a games machine (not a primary system anyway, maybe for the odd Pro Evo game or something).LazyEagle wrote:Hey Bbloke,

Still dont buy it. no way, no how
Single day sales maybe? run along and check there
Ya I remember reading about UT3, one reason they gave for no cross-compatibility was they had to slow the gameplay by about 20% vs the PC version, cos of the gamepad being the primary controllerBBloke wrote:I'm sure I've read recently that console FPS games are no where near a patch on PC FPS games.
btw LazyEagle, UT3 supports usb kbd/mouse on ps3. Yay. One title

Re: FUNNY?
Consoles can be great fun for multiplayer games with like 4 friends at a party, and for single too but i dont see any reason for console singleplayer games that are not arcade games (everything else can be solved better one computer) exept maybe for racing simulations but even them are solved better on computer with a wheel...

racing sims, pc
no two ways about it

Re: FUNNY?
yeah, but its slowed down by 20%, which kind of defeats the purpose in UT.Del wrote: btw LazyEagle, UT3 supports usb kbd/mouse on ps3. Yay. One title
It would be like riding a mountain bike with stabilizers!

Man, you shouldn't overrate mediocre shooters just because they are the best there is for that particular console.

Besides, when it comes to console FPS who needs templars or chiefs when you have Samus?

I mean, it's all windy stairs. I'm not being funny.
