I'm as excited about this as I am about the Tron sequel!

Never heard of the original but a good fantasy film is hard to find. There's been little in no good films of late... it would be nice to have something decent to watch one day.

erm... good kind of depends on your point of view. It's one of my favourite films ever, but not neccesarily because it's actually particularly good. I like it in the same way I like dubbed original Godzilla movies i.e. the effects are really dodgy, the film editing is rubbish and the acting is even worse. But it tries very hard, and the american actors take it very seriously.
Mind you - the soundtrack is epic. And Jack Palance is in it, as well as Bernard Bresslaw from the carry on films - and also Victor Meldrew's wife. Oh yeah - and the guy who played Hawk originally? Jack Shephard's dad in Lost.
Little bit of trivia for all you Spaced fans - Bilbo tells Tim that he once knocked a customer out for saying Hawk The Slayer was rubbish.
Ah, the mythical Hawk the Hunter, I for one really hope it gets made.
Love the original, but for the same reasons as Johnimus.
It was one of those films from my childhood that really got stuck in my brain, like Krull or Beatmaster.

Yeah both very good. Krull is probbably the best of the bunch in terms of quality, but the Beastmaster is up there with Hawk! Fing ferrets!

I liked Krull and some of the Space Adventures films like Battle Beyond the Stars and Spacehunter: Adventures in the Forbidden Zone both used run of the mill film footage but what the heck..

On a semi-on-topic note, mentioned this to jase earlier.
They're making a sequel to the Boondock Saints, The Boondock Saints 2: All Saints Day
Now, they have their work cut out doing this film justice, but here's the trailer:
It looks a little cheap to me, but let's hope the addition of some woman over a gay willem dafoe won't be too bad.
