The thing is the Japenese specalized in a method of music teaching called Kazuki where at a young age they give a say 16th size violin to a kid and teach them how to play by ear, and they normally excel at playing. The problem is they don't us sheet music to teach, so when the kid gets the music they're kind of clueless.
