Uilleann pipes are wonderful for that evocative, mournful ballad type of song. Odd to see them on such a large stage and with an orchestra accompanying, but i suppose it is riverdance.

As lovely as it sounds, you practially hear this on the Radio here in eire non-bloody-stop, or in anything slightly related to "Irish culture". But I suppose I grew up thinking it was "Yucky" so it is hard for me to hear it for what it is and not as an Irish sterotype instument.
On a side note, in school around January I went to a guy in our local museum and he showed us a bunch of odd instruments, that one included. I had a go and it is very, very tough to play. Like a mega bagpipe.
