If you have seen it then check out Michael Moore's: Capitalism: A Love Story. I watched it the other night and was astounded and the stunts that had been pulled as long ago as they were.

Most memory thing: A new US airline pilot can earn from $16,000 - $20,000 a year (in 2009).. frightening!

If he goes without food, a house, new clothes and a car he'd have his training paid off in 5-7 years....

basicly the us debt isnt very high, japan has a much higher debt in percent and still functions very well.
The battle about the ceiling is just politic abra kadabra. both parties know it is necessary to work on.

also a good way to get away with that debt is: raise taxes on rich people, raise taxes on companys.

No the rich people wouldnt start to get poor and no the companys wouldnt start to shut down.

flyn, bbloke: jeah airline pilot training cost something between 150,000 to 300,000 euros. Depends on how thoroughly its done.
in europe there are only 2 airlines who train there own pilots, british airways and lufthansa. The rest of the pilots are ex military or trained private by a school (i think there is only 1 in europe that does that).

There was a documentary about this on TV a while back following some of the US pilots who choose to literally live on site (airport) in mobile trailers/caravans, as wages are so low.
