I thought this would go down well on Festers as we have a few resident smokers
but the purpose of the link is really just to illustrate some great techniques in Photoshop.

Its worth mentioning that anyone that has never heard of
http://www.lynda.com/
should check it out.
Whatever subject relating to software or use of the internet there is pretty much something there for everyone of any ability.
LYNDA actually do a lot of the videos for Adobe so its top notch production and easy to follow.
Of course they make their money on subs but you can get the gist from many of the vids that are available free, and you can get trial subscriptions as well.

Hhmm must have a look at those guys. Thanks to my uni email address I have 3 year licences for autodesk stuff. I wanted to find a decent tutorial series on autocad and 3d studio.

for people signing on long term you can actually get them to pay for a years subcription to Lynda.
a few of my guys have done it although its not easy to get but if you push and explain it will lead to a job they will sign it off ( this is in the uk mind )
the benefits are tangible though - a few weeks back i spent 2 days learning iNDESIGN inside out.
since then ive received a number of orders to create interactive PDF Brochures for clients that prior to this i would have outsourced.
the downside when you look at the table of contents though is that you release you know fuck all about pretty much everything.
im gonna be about 900 before i got through everything i want to and im pretty sure they would have invented a bunch of new stuff in the meantime.

i used to use Articad which is an offshoot i think.
mostly streamlined ui and product libraries for quick interior design.
used to be able to draft even a large kitchen in about 30 mins.
