I'm not creating this thread to discuss the physics behind particle acceleration and splitting a proton (though if somebody wants to input, i'd be interested) - merely for this link:

I'm really interested in this and have been watching them with interest to see if find Higgs boson.
Lets hope the world doesn't implode in a black whole when they start testing!
If you read the magazine new scientist, they have been giving it some serious coverage.
Very interesting project.

the hadron collider is scheduled for activation on wednesday, september 10th.

I've been hearing about tings and it all sounds interesting. We have a few members of staff with black holes between their ears and they are only a danger to themselves. The worse thing about them is that none are elligble for a Darwin award but I would prefer to see them go.
