Lol Fester, I have days like that ALL the time (I do some IT) - and every time I do I just crack a grin because "At least I didn't have to teach them how to use the mouse =) ". SRSLY I had to teach grown ppl how to USE THE MOUSE (but none so far at this job).

ugh i set a new record for crappy nights, even worse then losing my teeth, imagine this if you will, a hotel hosting 2 xmas partys filled with aprox 500 drunk people on top of the guest floors which totals 149 minus ppl not in there rooms, now throw in a hockey team that desides to go and light the tolet paper dispencers in all the male public washrooms on fire casuing a hotel wide fire alaram to go off and to make matters worse we were understaffed and there were only 8 staff working, usualy we have like 12 or so, im the only security guard as usual....that and the fact i was high didnt help and then there is the chewing of my ass from my boss who was woken up at 1230 in the morning and thus there u have it a new record for the worst night at work

i refuse to belive that there is even a remote chance i will have to go through this bullshit ever again, it just cant possable happen again or get any worse, i wont hear the end of tonight for months, even if i was the one man against an army of drunk and or sleep deprived people

Well its Monday morning and i have been wore down to posting my rants about customers again on this topic...

So a customer attempts to drop there laptop to me at 6.30pm on a thursday evening and of coarse i am home at this stage, so without ringing me to arrange a time to meet the next day she drops it into the business the floor below me (we dont have any connection to each other) so next morning i get handed a laptop from the floor below me...i view this laptop thursday morning it had a scribbled note saying "buttons below mouse do not work"...

so after maybe an hour of poking and finding nothing wrong i close up the laptop ring the customer, she says "its my sons, i dont know whats wrong with it" i ask her to get her son to contact me low and behold i here nothing tell 5.15 on Friday "is the laptop ready i explained that i never got a call so never knew what the problem was and that i was also finished for my day and she could collect monday... this wasnt good enough for her so went out of my way to collect and drop the laptop for her.... i include a SMALL fee for looking at the laptop and dropping it off (and for listening to this bitch)

so thats the back story then there is this morning... a phone call from the "crazy lady" wanting to know why i didnt fix it.... and why i am charging her 30€ if i didnt fix it.. i continue to remind her of the information i was giving and the fact i had to change my plans on friday to accomindate her..... HER RESPONSE " Well if this is the way you conduct your business i will spread word about the town of your way of fixing computers (refering to the charge and it not fixed) how can you expect to be in business you are a joke as a company"

I'm always calm, polite and have good manors when dealing with customers hell they are always right some one told me once ...

I have had dealings with this customer before and every time i did she gave alot of hostility towards me when it came to paying my small fee's... but wait tell she goes to Tech Guys in Pc world and she gets slapped with a bill from them man she prob going to bring them to court

Totally agree Fest. I got sick of going to PC world, and another dodgy shop who would charge me £70 for changing the jumpers. From now on I'll just use my work laptop and google or post here with help requests! But I don't suggest you get her to do the same lol

So what was acctually wrong with the laptop. The users I work with, I make them show me the issues and will wait on the next time I see them. I refuse to look at a problem with no or crapy info. Not a mind reader. (Hehe I can do this since I get paid no matter what if legal). Ever got "It use to be fast and now it's not, I think there is something wrong with the internet." Who made you the technician? They dont even know what it takes to get them on the network! Usually ends up being a computer issue. I can handle users though, it's the people that knows enough to be dangerous.

It's the people that don't know enough and meddle that are the dangerous ones.

I love those one liners like "It was working yesterday when I turned it off!" and "I haven't done anything or installed anything new!" which normally gets quickly met with. "It's always alright the night before and sadly its always the last person to use it not the first person to turn it on that causes the problem" (unless they are one in the same person) and "Oh so spyware and the like get in there all by themselves then do they. Sure!"

There are just some that are lost causes! <sigh!>
