from what i understand 4:20 was invented by weed activists, real date for it is april 20th or 4:20 but like indivisible said u can get away with celerbraiting twice a day every day lol, here in red deer alberta (my home town) every april 20th at 420 all the citys pot heads march down to city hall/the police dispatch/holding cells and light up in front of the buildings and the police stand there and watch till bout 5 am then they make ya leave and arrest ya for driving under the influence. as for why its 420 i honestly have no idea
