Pure writing talent
Re: Pure writing talent
Sunday, 7pm on bbc4. Old School Day of the Triffids. The first 2 episodes this week.
Re: Pure writing talent
I remember that one. Scary in its day to see terrifying plants wandering around killing people.. I'm looking forward to the Torchwood special next week. Hopefully someone will see fit to park a bus between that gap in the female leads teeth!

Looking forward to it? I thought it was a load of shite! I don;t like Ruddel Davis as a writer. Fair play for reviving the franchise and all that, but I can't get on with it.BBloke wrote:I remember that one. Scary in its day to see terrifying plants wandering around killing people.. You are right about wotserface though. I saw her in Sainsbury's in Cardiff and it's an even bigger gap up close in the flesh!

Best all time scary movie from old has been Salems Lot. Not the shortened version.. the full 2 parter. Had some great moments in it.

Actually might watch this myself.BBloke wrote:I remember that one. Scary in its day to see terrifying plants wandering around killing people.. I'm looking forward to the Torchwood special next week. Hopefully someone will see fit to park a bus between that gap in the female leads teeth!
to be honest, I've always thought it to be pretty poor, but I like the idea of a weeklong miniseries!

Re: Pure writing talent
The tap on the window was just pure haunting genius and it's getting an airing on Sky somewhere (I think scifi Stephen King week) the full 2 parter.
Re: Pure writing talent
It's slightly worrying that I can't remember reading any of this topic...I'll have to check out this series. Still, isn't there a new film coming out soon?

Re: Pure writing talent
Way to go revive an old thread...
Did anyone watch the new version of Day of the Triffids? Overall I wasn't very impressed with the new offering, it was a mish-mosh of ideas from the book thrown together with plenty of new strange ideas added (i.e. the convent, his father?!). A couple of bits were generally good, but altogether after looking forwards to this for ages, it was quite dissapointing. Any thoughts anyone else?
