Of course the official explanation about the bird deaths around the world makes no sense either.
They all got fucking startled and died from mass heart attack or something. There were less reports about dead birds and less dead birds during the time when the bird flu was all around.

I haven't read anything about the birds falling from the sky event, but to append to dreammachine's post, this can happen even if you don't notice (m)any dead fish. The poison concentration in a single fish might be low enough not to kill it, but if a bird eats several fish it will have a higher concentration and could become at risk.
