I might be wrong but I see a possibility of seeing more cheaters in TF2 than before, unless Valve does something about them. Here is why. I've found these vids on YouTube:

They are totally business oriented, coz normally only a moron would use a file hosting service like ShareCash.org (it takes a stupid survey to download files!), especially considering that comments and ratings are disabled, making sure the downloads stay encouraged; but probably people annoyed by this site will get the files from other websites anyway (like where the author of the vids got the files from in the first place), and then no wonder why aimbots and speedhacks are going to become so frequent...

Edit: Well, I guess the problem is worse, another aimbot hack video using RapidShare dates back to 13th November 2009, and noone in the comments warn you about how loser you are using those cheats...

Edit: Finally I noticed the opposite here, so I'm not sure of anything now.

Edit: So many similar videos, can't keep track of them...

It's kind of scary isn't it?

Its just getting so hard to tell the difference between a really good player and a hacker these days!

On a side not e..i am sure all know cheats/hacks can be bought.. things are not so bad when money has to change hands it stops alot of people getting them.. but free hacks are a serious problem.. on the plus side this may fource Valve to get there shit together and secure the game like they say it is meant to be!

EDIT: just watched the second video.. the "UNDETECTABLE" one.. anyone who fires 3 rockets in a row is very detectable or runs around the map with a speed hack... i think they mean valve undectable..

The videos are a trap, just like Terb said.

In short, there are hacks for TF2. They are being used. However the more prevalent a hack is, how quicker it will be analyzed and VAC-banned. The less prevalent, well, they are just that less common and hardly an issue.

The video's purpose is nothing more than to lure people into downloading something questionable. Hence the disabled comments, hence the tinyurl/bit.ly/go.to/etc linkage.

The chances of there being a true hack in the download: close to none. The chance that someone at Valve already plucked apart the download if there was a hack in it: rather high. The chance of there being someone who installs this and have some terrible ID-theft thing happening to him: pretty much 99%

(please forgive the made up statistics, its a sin, I know)

If your computer is worth it to you, don't even risk it. However, if you value the community you are part of, don't even think of taking the risk at all.

Actually, VAC does ban quite regularly, but it is done by a flagging mechanism, the subsequent bans are then only done in batches.

Punkbuster was and still is a piece of shit. Too many issues with it or false positives. Quite often the default set of parameters is set in such a way that 'normal' tweaks are banned (fov, latency, double binds).

Honestly, I think with VAC Valve has picked the right attitude when it comes to cheating. One identity per game which will carry the sentence and it's more of an ominous being that hovers over cheaters, ready to ban those marked, who don't even know it yet themselves.

And that combined of course with server-side moderation is a good combo. No need to wait for the VAC ban when you can kick a person yourself that instant. Plus with the benefit of you knowing he'll get whats coming to him sooner of later.

Best remedy I guess is to spectate that person you think is hacking?

Does it really work per game? cause I can't imagine ppl being dumb enough to cheat if they have an expensive software collection on their Steam account.
