Left 4 Dead
Re: Left 4 Dead
WANT
is this purely online or will it be hitting shops? i dont trust myself with a credit card, let alone get one AND go onto the valve store.
it would be like "order all valve-related merch, plz"

Re: Left 4 Dead
I havent seen word of dedicated server sys reqs.
Any y'all seen/heard?
I wouldnt mind getting this running on our server if it has the horsies.
No promises, but I think it'd be good, there's enough interest amongst the regulars it seems to warrant it.

Ah yes, brain must have been turned off when I saw this. Ordering from play.com is 27 quid though, only 90 cents more and you get the media. Messed up how Steam games aren't massively cheaper as they avoid distribution channels.Jonfon wrote:Isn't the Steam price in dollars though? $44.95?

Yep, although I assume the media publishers might also have something to do with it (don't undercut us).Angrr wrote:Ah yes, brain must have been turned off when I saw this. I actually prefer having it on Steam rather than an easy-to-scratch DVD. I've ruined so many CDs/DVDs its nice not to have to depend on them if I want to remove and then reinstall later. Plus I've too many game boxes and manuals as it is and hate throwing them out.

me too, I've got 3 big drawers full of games which I can't bring myself to get rid of. So I buy from steam now if I can just to save room.

Re: Left 4 Dead
Have Steam started their online backup system thing yet? I'd be petrified that everything I had downloaded would be deleted and lost if my system packed in! The advantage of the discs is that you can re-install quickly and easily!
Re: Left 4 Dead
I prefer having it installable online too, just barking how it ain't much cheaper, as ya'll say though reasons for this are reasonable.
However, with the VAT added on it's 31.33, quite pants.

You can deinstall game at any time and install it again later. Done this myself to save HDD space used by games I no longer play but still "own". Simple choose "Delete local content" by right clicking on the game in the My Games pane.Johnimus Prime wrote:Have Steam started their online backup system thing yet? Re: Left 4 Dead
Thats all great if you have a steaming hot internet connection to redownload the game. If you are on a couple of megs it could take a while
