I can remember that the first arcade games I played were Ghosts and Goblins and Double Dragon, while on holiday with my folks. I'd say I was about 8 or 9, and myself and my brother were amazed by them. Following that, there was the old Star Wars arcade machine, which was a wonderful rig, as it was built like the cockpit of an X-wing and you had to fly at the Deathstar listening to R2-D2 beep into your ear.
A bit later, I got my first computer, an Atari 800XL (had a keyboard and cassette tape games).
I'd say it was when the Amiga appeared though, that games just got more engrossing. The original Wing Commander had a great story and was the first game I can remember staying up to play instead of sleeping, just to get a little bit further. Then came Monkey Island, which blew my mind and by that stage, I was hooked for life.
