Spambot preventition
Spambot preventition
I have added a custom field to the registration process to try and eliminate the spammers from getting through. I know we don't get many but stopping them would be kinda nice.

Captcha? If it is I hope it's a halfway decent one and not one of those 2-words backwards+upside down ones.
Re: Spambot preventition
It's nothing to do with captcha. It's just an extra question that needs answer for the form to submit. Something a bot wouldn't automatically know and something it can't OCR like captcha graphics. Fingers crossed.. There's not much spam hits the boards but hopefully it'll stop registration that are illegitimate.

Good work man. Though, to be honest, any spambot that attempts to spam this forum must be pretty desperate...

LOL.. unfortunately being almost human he's totally uncontrollable and cannot be prevented!!

Re: Spambot preventition
I always find custom fields are the best way, captchas can get broken but unless it's a human they won't get that
If anybody's interested, on the same topic... Google did some research on a new kind of captcha image that rotates, it can be read here:

Pretty cool

Looks nice Supernova. At least it doesn't take me 5 mins of just staring blankly at the thing trying to make out if that's a O or a 0. Even worse when it's case sensitive...
