Yeah, great sauce as well - we use to have "Ragout fin" on Xmas Eve [tho it´s french, quite a good meal :greentoke: but in the way my parents and my granny do it it´s like 60% meat (chicken and pork if aint wrong), 15% cheese (we gratin it with a mixture of cheese, breadcrumbs and a lil piece of butter on top ) 15% mushrooms (but no fresh ones! means out of the tin), 5% capers and 5% bouillon] - some drops of "Woooooster"-Sauce and a bit of lemon juice makes the whole thing really tasty.
But we take the one made in Dresden/Germany. It´s the best of the ones locally manufactured over here. Being used to this flavour I couldnt really get along with the "Lea&Perrins" that much - tho they are quite similar. On the other hand being used to this L&P u wouldnt accredit the "Exzellent" from Dresden as well I think. As far as I remember the L&P is more even in it´s consistency (comparable to soja-sauce), the Exzellent is more like "micro-flaky".

Hows about chips then? There are many different sauce variations to put on chips depending on where you live - particularly in the uk.

In the North, it's chips and gravy.

In the Midlands, it's chips and curry sauce.

In the South, it's chips and... actually I don't know what they put on them in the south.

What do you Europeans do? I'm not sure if fish and chips culture is something you have much of?

wtf, johnimus?!?! You mb should have heard once or twice that England also belongs to Europe?!
At least u should have known that jased is a European, haven´tya? :greentoke:

In Germany chips are only eaten with Ketchup or Mayonaisse - no compromises - in recent times even offered without anything. What a pity actually if I read what YOU English people ( ) put on your "Pommes frites". I say 'offered' cos usually you don´t make chips yourself at home - it´s bought at tuck shops ("Imbiss") or eaten in the restaurant. A reason for that may be that we ain´t such a big nation of "fryers" - to me it seems that there are lots of things ppl in GB are fryin - and chips outta the oven ain´t even close to fried ones..
I´ve once seen a report on a shop that just fries whatever u want - u may even bring your own pizza, steak, cake, chocolate bar or whatever to them and they fry it for u. Absolutely crazy!!!

Tomato, BBq or Mayo on chips for me.

Also Ive had a battered Mars Bar and as disgusting as it sounds it was quite nice.

The flash fry it so the outside was really crispy, the chocolate wa warm and gooey and the middle was cool and chewy!

Very weird and you could only eat one a week but it was nice!

Fuck the Pats.
BBloke...our white gravy is sausage gravy. It's easy to make. Brown some ground sausage. Add butter and flour until its pasty in consistency. This is a roux. Add milk or cream, salt and pepper. Biscuits are just flour, baking powder, salt and sugar mixed with shortening until its coarse in texture, then adding milk. There are lots of variations, but that's the basics.
In Maryland, as some of you know...we like crabs. Not sea crabs, bay crabs. They are blue in color and much better than any other crab on the planet. I made crab cakes recently that were great, but w/o Maryland crab meat they wouldn't be worth making, so i won't leave that recipe here. On my fries I like Old Bay and vinegar or ketchup. Old Bay is a Maryland spice made for steaming crabs, but we put on just about anything.
I really <3 cooking, so this is my kind of post.
Oh, and wtf is a kipper?

I have to apologise Jased for abusing Kippers and Custard. I assumed it was a concoction born on the highs of illicit substances and empty cupboards. In my head it was a pack of kippers with a tin of Birds poured on it. Doing a google search I find it is actually a recognised dish made by actual chefs. I still wouldnt eat it though.

Smoke me a kipper and mix it with custard, I'll be back for breakfast.

Great one, Smoke
Made of an original "Hering in Currysauce"-tin?

@Yam: To be honest I thought the same in the beginnin, jased just messin around.
And I was a bit surprised he settled down to especially work on a recipe for that.
But I´d like to sample it once.

Edit: I haven´t forget about the recipe for the tongue - goin to visit my parents @ the we and put it in here next week.
