Just watching the flames get bigger on the Infinity Ward forums, hell this makes that whole halo, valve crap look like a small spark, hell i can call it a full scale forest fire at the moment almost reaching volcanic...

Added - Rofl read up on that IWnet crap they will try to impliment, I smell a lawsuit as a number of ISPs dont allow what IW are saying in that damn system

Added ++ - Seems that it will hammer Spore on the most pirated game ever in the first week so it will break atleast one record ^^

i find it hilarious that there are still people who think pc gaming is bigger than console gaming

amazon put out a survey on console specific pre order sales just before this shitstorm happened

xbox is 1st 60%
ps3 in 2nd with 31%
and pc lagging in the back with 9%

even the previous call of duty 4 only reached about 14% max

developers are just going where the money is

that said i do hope valve and blizzard can claw back interest in the pc market
as it stands rts games seem to be the only genre that dont really suit consoles

they havent "fucked over theyre biggest market" just pissed of some of theyre smallest least profitable market

I'll just throw out some facts mixed with assumptions and then make my point below.

Publishers are, much alike many of the other in their respective businesses, sellers of a product. In their case a physical product, which started with things like cartridges and cassettes, hence the strong focus on disc-based security nowadays. Amazon unfortunately is just an extension of the old 'physical product' sales routine. Consoles fit perfectly in their frame of mind. It is a 'physical product', where other 'products' can be bought for, which can break or be lost (in which case a replacement will have to be bought).

Times are changing and PC's are (as usual) running ahead of the pack. Games are shifting towards subscription based or account based services. As it stands now, only a few dominate the market on this, none of them currently on any console. Valve with steam and IGN/Gamespy with Direct2Drive. Digital sales are not reported as of yet. Valve, being as tight lipped as they have always been, have yet to report a single revenue stream or sales figures as of yet.

Amazon doesn't not report on any of the digital sales made, or any of the sales made by smaller videogame stores. Amazon only reports on their own sales. Which we can assume will be mostly for the xbox, as steam will be the backbone for MW2, regardless of method of purchase. PC gamers will not have to buy a physical product, but can get the game closer to the source (at an equivalent price).

Now it may be that PC gamers aren't the largest market, or maybe not the most profitable (honestly, tho anyone that spends $300 on a machine that can only play slightly more expensive videogames, deserves to be bled dry). But it is surely the market in which most games have thrived and have been nurtured by.

Besides, PC's offer so many more kind of games, far better Multiplayer support (MW2 excluded) and plenty of PC games have pretty good user made mod/map support. just look at Festers. *insert brown-nose smiley here*


and i hate to say it, how many console games have been going as strong as Counter Strike? Its still alive and kicking after, what? 10 years?

oh, and how many MMO's does a the console world offer its gamers?

and i find it funny that 'some' people forget that there is more than just physical products in this day and age, come on Terb you must have seen the consoles version of digital products aka live arcade, >>STEAM<< and PSN Marketplace.

Never EVER try and prove your point with statistics from Amazon, hell any site similar as they will always favour the console.... Biased Fucks the lot of them.
