I'm with Johnimus (although, for the record, I liked the end to BSG), for the last while they've hinted at multiple universes. Through Miles seeing the dead, and things seemingly changing around him, the books certain characters were reading, they were all leading us on a wild goosechase where in the end, we got no alternative reality, just some bullshit purgatory twist.

I liked all the on island stuff though, and the off island stuff, I just thought the explanation at the end was just a pile of shite!

I think the last time we really saw Vincent was like Season 4 when the freighter came in. Ever since Rose and Bernard went all solo, you haven't seen him bc he was with them. There's something special about Vincent, some people have speculated that Jacob took the body, much like the smoke monster took over Christians body. You see Vincent in the beginning right when Jack wakes up, and again right away as they march off to find the nose of the plane. And then again in the end. At the very least, Vincent seems to have some sort of importance.
1st point: in an interview the producers say he just grew too fast, when he comes back in series 3 he looks about 30 :-?

watch the finalé, vincent is a fucking bro!

Pretty much my sentiments too Lazy. I grabbed a hold of Jimmy Kivel and he summarised it at the beginning of his show that it was "Jack's Journey or test". The writers have always denied purgatory as the main plot but now that feels like a hugh red herring. The island was his test to pass over or pass on so nothing was real. Kivel also ran a little snippet of the turbulence on the plane before the crash and made reference to Rose saying "You can let go now" making that the start point for his test and that he had died from then on. It's a simply explanation and the writers have done a pretty solid job at keeping us glued to the box but realistic I think they could have made it 3 season long instead of 6!

As series finales go. There's nothing that can beat BSG. Solid to the end with enough twist to make you thing for a second.

I don't think thats true, I just heard that from Dharma Agent. I found nothing backing it up.

Plus watch episode 104. I'll link the clip, you be the judge...

BSG was great, but in my mind the best series finale was the last episode of Angel.

It ended with the few surviving characters squaring off against an army from the depths of hell on the streets of LA, preparing to fight to the bitter end!

There are only a few shows that legitimately get to the end but the best I've seen was BSG. Nice little twist and far better than continuing on and on and on with the same stories.

Lost just made 3 years of the show seem quite irrelevant as Lazy said. The premis of the show had nothing to do with it persay and there in lies the problem for me. I remember Quantum Leap from the 80's and it's premis was the show and the journey Sam took... oh hum!
