ohh and itunes, best music library program there is.
currently have over 2.5TB of music in my library, hated it at first tried everything, itunes is the best unfortunately, this was when I was on windoze too.
you can dissable all the other stuff from start up but to be fair you should disable all apps from start up anyways apart from anti virus and the 2 (i think) system apps (ctfmon and i cant remember the other).

I try to avoid anything apple to be honest. Their business model is disgusting. To develop iPhone apps you have to use apple software on apple computers and then give apple a hefty chunk out of your revenue. As if you hadn't paid apple enough money already. Apple make more money than Microsoft. They're selling to a market of shallow fad-following idiots. All people seem to care about it lighter, "cooler", and slimmer. They hold back features on their products just to add them in 6 months later and double-dip. In apple's case they dip about 5 times per product before ignoring it completely.
Why spend £600 on some fancy iPad? My £200 netbook has much more functionality. It doesn't look as nice but at least it doesn't ask me to spend another £4 every 6 months for an update. If I refuse to update all the apps stop working. It's a fucking joke.
Apple make me sick. If their products didn't LOOK as nice as they did apple would have gone bankrupt years ago. Instead they are rich as fuck and making more people their bitch in a closed system that limits functionality and makes people look bad if they stop paying for the latest stuff.

I agree, apple support is dire, horrid horrid experience with them.
I bought a 26" screen from them that kept turning the screen to black then back, like a random once or twice flicker every few hours (like 5 or 6)
they wouldnt advance replace wanted me to send it to them then wait 4-5 weeks for them to replace it (without a monitor, although i did have spare but they didnt know that) they also breach euro trading rules by charging for the warranty after 90 days but somehow get away with it.
I only bought mine after getting a macbook pro for work (if I go to a customer with a virus it cannot spread to the mac and then spread to my next customer) and dual booting if absolutley needed, then after a while I found apps to do everything windows did and didnt use the windoze part.
then I decided to get a mac pro for my main computer just cos I was sick of windoze and yes it was expensive but dual 8 core i7 xeons 16GB ram, ati HD 1gb graphics and now a SSD I love it to bits, dead fast, does everything (now steam is available)
I dont think id own a windows machine ever again, we dont have any windows machines at all here, the last win server died a few months ago so they are all linux or mac too.
im also no longer a paid up MS registered partner at work, yeah i can still do everything but there was no value in paying them for a shiny badge.

ohh and bear in mind the 12 months prior to my complaint about my 2 week old apple screen id spent just short of 10 grand with them on various bits.
they still couldn't give a toss.

They just want money. Apple charge far too much. A £400-500 computer running OSX in a shiny box will cost you £1300 from the Apple Store.
Linux can do anything a Mac can do, except steam... for now. Linux also has amazing support, for free. Try asking for help on the Ubuntu Forums. You'll get about 4 helpful replies within the hour. It's great.

you can run mac osx on any pc, they call it a hackintosh
the hardware is overpriced I agree, but why spend 1400 quid on a top end laptop when 1500 gets you a macbook pro?
that's what started it for me!
