Hmm well it works ok, but I prefer the look of the add-on I have on firefox. Anyone know if there are any addons avaliable yet for Chrome?

It's a beta mate so not many add-on's yet but expect a tidal-wave of them shortly.Jonnywhy wrote:Hmm well it works ok, but I prefer the look of the add-on I have on firefox. Anyone know if there are any addons avaliable yet for Chrome?
The browser is a step ahead in terms of the underlying code I think but it will get much better after the beta phase.

Seriously though, it's easily the quickest browser I have experienced.
Top marks google!

Re: Google Chrome Browser
Firefox already released benchmarks that the 3.1 update later in the year will beat chrome in speed, bet their really kicking themselves in the ass for helping google devs... either way I'm probably not going to switch because FFX3 is way more advanced in terms of everything except speed atm. Really am glad though that with FFX3, Opera, and Chrome the chances of IE totally dying out have greatly increased. (now we just need to get some of those big corporations, like the one I work for, to chuck the old IE as standard for their work PCs)
I mean, it's all windy stairs. I'm not being funny.

Chrome was built clean and there is no way FF is going to get within the same timezone of Chrome.MountieXXL wrote:Firefox already released benchmarks that the 3.1 update later in the year will beat chrome in speed, bet their really kicking themselves in the ass for helping google devs... either way I'm probably not going to switch because FFX3 is way more advanced in terms of everything except speed atm. The code in Chrome is far more advanced than FF. Read the information below on multiple threading and the way it deals with memory and processes. It's the way all browsers will go once they have caught up.
http://www.google.com/googlebooks/chrome/
The only area FF has an advantage is the widgets but this won't last for very long given google are providing people will the tools and code to be able to write plug-in's for it. I wreckon Chrome over a short period of time will reduce FF to the scrap heap which is a shame as I think Opera and FF were the best browsers out there before Chrome came along.
The search function is great too. I type in nod32 in the address bar and it offers me esst.com the company that runs nod32, how clever is that?
I think IE will stay in companies for sometime due to AD integration and MS support. I don't know how or if any of the other's offer that yet but being as most companies run Windows boxes I can't see it leaving the corporate fold anytime soon.

Re: Google Chrome Browser
eh, I read the whole comic allready and know what they're getting at... but the thing is that the 3.1 update will have the new TraceMonkey engine and even now Chrome's V8 is 16% slower than it (TraceMonkey) on Vista and 28% slower on XP when using SunSpider for benchmarks.
Of course those benchmarks are to be taken with a grain of salt since Mozilla released them, but I wouldn't take everything Google is saying for granted either because they are talking about their own browser.
Each company is promoting it's own app instead of playing it down(wouldn't expect them to do it any other way), but fact is that FF3 is atm not slow enough for me to exchange it with a new browser that's still in beta. Maybe when 3.1 comes out and it's revealed which claims they are making are BS and which aren't and Chrome has had some time to develop I'll reconsider switching.

Those claims are hilarious, although I guess Mozilla are trying to deal with the shell shock they must be experiencing right now.MountieXXL wrote:eh, I read the whole comic allready and know what they're getting at... but the thing is that the 3.1 update will have the new TraceMonkey engine and even now Chrome's V8 is 16% slower than it (TraceMonkey) on Vista and 28% slower on XP when using SunSpider for benchmarks.

I don't think the point here is about switching, the google browser is a completely different entity to all of the others. The development path is going to make or break it over the coming months.
FF is the most polished of the current crop but is now going to have to play catch up with its bigger brother, google.
