Told you about the girl playing TF2!
Re: Told you about the girl playing TF2!
dont forget that consoles are set at about 30-60 fps and you will never get more than that ^_^
Re: Told you about the girl playing TF2!
Aye, i said pc's are more powerful.
But the amount of money/time/skill involved to buy a pc and build it is intimidating to most people. At the end of the day, if you want to play assassins creed or some such game the difference in performance between a decent pc and a 360/ps3 is minimal, and to lot, unimportant.
Which is of course why if you can manage it you should acquire a blingin', pimped out uber-rig of a pc that will eat up games like popcorn for the best gaming experience.

Re: Told you about the girl playing TF2!
I deceided to build my rig from scratch and it was easier than I thought, as well as immensly satisfying. Then I overclocked it and I'm chuffed to bits with it. It's given me less hassle than any other computer I have ever owned - apart from my trusty old PS2 - which is best used for driving games and beat em ups. And, of course, he original worms.
I may get a PS3 at some point - but only when they release the next wipeout, and when I decide its time to go blu-ray

There's nothing like building your own. You have total control over what you put in it and where. It's amazing what kind of a machine you can buy these days with a reasonable budget. I've had my PC over 14 months and it still great. I've only changed the gfx card and it still does the business. Hope they let you loose with the credit card

Re: Told you about the girl playing TF2!
I changed mine in October last year. Minus the stuff from my old pc I wanted to keep i.e. keyboard, mouse, monitor, graphics card and sound card, I paid just under £600. This was for antec 900 case, asus p5n32 sli plus motherboard, core 2 e6750, 2gb crucial 6400, thermaltake 850w psu, zalman cnps9700 fan.zombie lou wrote:I've heard you save alot of money building your own is this true?
I looked at similarly specced systems and although they did have the monitor, keyboard, mouse and graphics card as well, they were all around the £1200 mark.
I reckon you could get a system built with the same specs as mine for less than £700 now.

Re: Told you about the girl playing TF2!
and yes it is much cheaper to build them your self due to the fact that when you buy them you are paying around $500 for the brand name alone.

Pretty much what I did Johnimus. E6600, 2gb RAM, 550W Hiper PSU, Antec 900 case, DFI Mobo, X1950 Pro GFX card, SATA HDD and DVDRW, Audigy 2 ZS sound card. Got some upgrades over the year: HD3870, XFi FAtal1ty.Johnimus Prime wrote:I changed mine in October last year. Here's something to consider:
C2D E8400 3ghz £116
ASUS P5N-T nforce 7 £153
2gb GeIL PC6400 £36
eVGA 8800 GT 512mb £120
WD SATA HDD 250Gb £40
SATA DVDRW £20
Zalman Flower 9700 £42
XFi Gamer Fatal1ty £53
Antec 900 Case £57
Hiper 880W PSU £88
Total £725
You could change the sound card and save as well as the mobo but that would be a damn fine piece of kit. (Although I'm sure I've missed something somewhere!!!!!) Prices from http://www.overclockers.co.uk sometimes they are not the cheapest but they have been a good company to deal with.
A friend bought a PC from a company in Eastborune. They were offering it as a special at around £500. IIRC it was a E6750, 2gb RAM and 8600GTS card. A lucky find and purchase especially as one of his friends has just offered him and 8800GT card for £70.
