Post by HankVenture » Sun Dec 07, 2008 5:45 pm

Just for the shit of it, I thought it would be fun to post the first ever game we played that turned us into the wird people we are now :D. Have fun! And yes...I am ready. Bitches.

The video first game I ever played ... ?
That's a little difficult for some of us considering we grew up with "computer class" and little educational games.
For me it would be a hand held Little Mermaid LCD game. Man I obsessed over that thing like nobody's business.

I can remember that the first arcade games I played were Ghosts and Goblins and Double Dragon, while on holiday with my folks. I'd say I was about 8 or 9, and myself and my brother were amazed by them. Following that, there was the old Star Wars arcade machine, which was a wonderful rig, as it was built like the cockpit of an X-wing and you had to fly at the Deathstar listening to R2-D2 beep into your ear.
A bit later, I got my first computer, an Atari 800XL (had a keyboard and cassette tape games).
I'd say it was when the Amiga appeared though, that games just got more engrossing. The original Wing Commander had a great story and was the first game I can remember staying up to play instead of sleeping, just to get a little bit further. Then came Monkey Island, which blew my mind and by that stage, I was hooked for life.

I think the first game that properly started down the road of the hardcore was X Wing Vs Tie Fighter.
Played plenty before but that was the first obsession.

Fuck first game thats realy realy hard. First game was something on the amiga or c64 (a friend of mine has a amiga, my parents a c64) my first proper game on a faster computer was probably, Z (the one with the robot soldiers), Clash (round based game which was SOOOO goood), X-Wing vs. Tie Fighter I played also alot. That were propably the first 3 games which I played alot. I was fucking young there sooo^^. Z I played in Multiplayer, and Clash one one Pc with more Persons, also what comes in mind to me is NFS 2 and Tomb Raider 1 and 2 which i can remember very well.

I realy can't think of a chronology when they came out and when i played them.
Oh jeah and off course the Siedler 1 -4 I played alot. German as I am...^^

I think maybe Sonic on the Mega Drive (my cousin had one). Tails racing Sonic was particularly good! Can't really remember otherwise.

My absolute first gaming experience was on my fathers Sinclair, y'know the one with the tapes. God, the sound that thing made while starting a game could make your ears bleed.
Then came the Crash Bandicoot series which I obsessed over for years. And finally the one game that got me hooked on computer gaming was Age of Empires 2 which I absolutely love even now.
