News
We have revised our map rotation list to add a little spice and hopefully change the time frame during a daily period. You can see our current rotation here.
Fester's Place is looking for a new website background image. It's a bit of a competition that, with interest, we hope to run every month. As with any competition there are rules and you can read more here.
Del has found a nice little feature via a URL to open our very own Fester's Place Group Chat window.
We have added this link to the top of the web site side bar but what we would really like is an image. Something that is easy to see and helps and draws attention to it.
If anyone would like to take up the challenge of making one we'd love to use it.
Please visit our forums and post your fine work at this thread
We have implemented a map rating system for the Back Yard server while running the tf2maps.net mapmaking contest rotation
It works like this -
20 minutes into a round, after your next death, a menu pops up asking the user to rate the map from 1-5
So you have had a chance to run about the map, and you only get harassed for your opinion in spawn. That's the theory anyway!
You can call up the ratings menu at any time to view, rate or rerate a map. This can be done by typing !maprate in chat
You can also view the ratings ingame by typing !maprating
The ratings can also be viewed here on the site by clicking on map ratings above
Jased10s found a very useful forum post regarding the ingame scoreboard and how to get it to list 32 players. So now you can see all players without the bottom few getting chopped off
Del very kindly made it even easier to implement.
Download and extract to your Steam\steamapps\accountname\team fortress 2\tf\resource folder (Same as for the custom GameMenu) after extraction, there should be a ui folder with one file, ScoreBoard.res
Job Done and nice work guys for finding and making it so easy!
Ok Jased10s has uploaded the contest maps posted on the tf2maps.net site. A few of them are updated versions of ones we allready have ( zig/cashworks ). Lets give them a twirl and support these great map makers. The map list at the moment is only available through in game request but they may well hit the map rotation in time.
Here are the names:
- pl_cashworks_b2
- pl_frontier_b2
- pl_halfacre_rc
- pl_repository_b6
- pl_reservoir_1_6a
- pl_stovepipe_b3
- pl_tranquility_alpha1
- pl_vipersden_b1

These maps are quite large and it may be worth your while preinstalling them to you PC. Here's a handy link to help you on your way
We have done it again. We have updated out Game Menu to incorporate all our servers. Since the latest round of tf2 updates. Valve saw fit to invent a new look server browser. It's not without it's teething trouble and alas it had one big one. The loss of your favourites. This will help you no end.
Sick of having to click on fav's within tf2 to join Fester's?
Fret no longer, download the attached file GameMenu.zip below and extract it to your
Steam\steamapps\accountname\team fortress 2\tf\resource folder
you should get something like this then for your TF2 menu
Just click on "Join Fester's Place" and in ya go...
two thumbs up to jase for the idea and pointers.
As you know there has been an intermitment issue with map changes on the server. Even tough Valve have announced that it is an issue and is being investigated we have strived to check our server to ensure your gaming enjoyment.
Unfortunately during these checks we have found an infection, although annoying and generally harmless it needs cleaning.
As
of 11pm GMT Festers Place Servers have been taken down so intensive
maintenance can be made. This is a situation that will "take as long as
it takes" but we will keep you informed as to what is happening.
We would like to thank everyone who has become a part of Fester's Place and we look forward to seeing you back as soon as things are up and running.
UPDATE: Server has been rully repaired and reinstalled with great speed thanks to Del and Killer Creations. Hats off to them both for giving their time and commitment.
